    • Thanks Betsy. I didn’t know that but do remember hiking on a towpath somewhere on the Potomac…Harper’s Ferry? Too long ago. We’re surrounded by reservoirs built circa 1830 to supply water for the Chenango Canal (the photo here) which then joins the Erie Canal. The canal system is a real treasure, with a little something for everyone – history, culture, nature, recreation (Wish more of the feeder system had been preserved). I’m fortunate to be in the middle of it all!
